Dear {{Constituent First Name}},
As the U.S. elections approach, the TRUST Network continues to work at the forefront through our early warning early action ecosystem. Over the last several months, we have hosted and participated in conversations that center around preparing for uncertainty and an increase in political violence. We are sharing with you, our TRUST Network stakeholders, a collection of resources that are particularly useful. Our next stakeholder meeting, November 12, at 2 p.m. ET, will take place one week after the U.S. general election. We will look closely at the emergent work our national, state-level, and local partners are doing. We invite you to participate in this open discussion.
The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division recently launched awebpagecompiling information to help voters in states impacted by recent hurricanes Helene and Milton to have access to the ballot. In these online resources, the department focuses on the six states that were directly affected by recent hurricanes: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The site identifies and provides links to various state changes made to accommodate voters who have been displaced, lost their identification documents, have had polling sites moved or who are unsure where or how they can vote. It also provides contact information so that voters can reach local voting officials who can provide the most specific and up-to-date guidance.
Additionally, DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency who support states on Election Security developed the following two PDF Attachments on Physical Security Checklist for Polling Locations. Additional details can be found here:Physical Security Checklist for Polling Locations | CISA. Given that States are responsible for the administration of elections and each state has their own guidelines for poling location operations and security requirements, DHS can provide resources as seen in the attached for the general public. All other additional assistance should be requested by state and county election offices.
