Knight Foundation has committed $150,000 to expand the American Conversation Project (ACP) in Knight communities across the country. If your organization serves one of the following Knight (26 cities across USA), express your interest by completing our registration form. ACP is a nationwide initiative that helps trusted local organizations host meaningful conversations that elevate community voices and strengthen civic life. Whether you're a library, nonprofit, civic organization, educational institution, or other community-based organization, ACP provides a simple, supported way to engage your community in constructive dialogue.
92NY’s Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact is proud to launch applications for the 2027 cohort of UpTide – an initiative that gives community-building nonprofits the tools they need to reach the next level of impact. At a time when disconnection is growing, UpTide invests in the people and organizations doing the opposite: building belonging, deepening connection, and renewing civic life. UpTide will support five Executive Directors, CEOs, or Presidents of community-building nonprofits. Apply here! Selected leaders will receive:
- - A $5,000 grant, and a chance to receive an additional $25,000

JULY 17–19 Make some good trouble Honor the legacy of Rep. John Lewis by joining the nationwide Good Trouble Lives On weekend of action. Find or host a nonviolent, nonpartisan event that helps teach communities about voting rights, reach neighbors with trusted voter information, or preach a message of hope, justice, and civic responsibility. We Hold These Truths (WHTT) is a mobile interview station that honors and gathers stories about people’s connections to place, culture, and history, including the 250th anniversary of the United States. The activity is named for one of the most recognizable phrases from the preamble to the United States Declaration of Independence. It refers to ideals that Americans have reinterpreted and grappled with since the founding of the republic. There is a full schedule of local events across the US from now until mid-November. with an emphasis on Storytelling and Story Circles. For those who cannot attend, WHTT will also be releasing a free toolkit on storytelling in the coming weeks. It is designed to help educators, students, and community advocates facilitate similar conversations in their own communities.
